SDXC Cards

The SDXC card is the uniformed format for moving files without the use of the LAN. It has been chosen as a standard due to the need for support on micro-SD for handhelds, and cellular phones. With that in mind, the micro-SD card can be inserted into an adapter, and that adapter can insert into a computer for connecting, and moving files around. In example, a person may want to load their favorite music on an micro-SD card inserted into an SD card adapter, and then inserted into the phone after the files transferred over, and removed from the adapter. The SDXC card is large enough to not get lost, but small enough to be used across multiple types of computers.

SDXC cards can range from 16GB – 2TB (2,000GB). If it wasn’t for the slower speeds, the SD card could have served as a backup system with using the larger size cards. The card is not intended for backup, but instead to move or store files that the owner doesn’t want to be accessible on the LAN. It is also used again with handheld devices that have been mentioned on this site.
