All stoves that would follow NSC regulations must be electric. This is because there is no place for a gas line in the NSC code of standards. Even if one does not believe in climate change, they can not deny that natural gas is a finite resource, and will only get more expensive as less of it is found. Electric does not have that problem. Some premises might be able to install solar panels on the roof, and therefore provide for free electricity. Even if not the case, electricity must be affordable to everyone being considered as an essential resource.
Stoves will be smart and support not only matter, but the K: Home standard. This will allow for example someone to set a timer for 20 minutes in the K-Home app, and once that timer expires, the oven can turn off, and send a persistent notification to the device that set the timer. There will be a push for induction cooktops which is more energy efficient even if a little more expensive. Once economies of scale play a role to provide a requirement, the prices will come down to be a little more affordable. Since cooking food is an essential activity, there will be price control, so it will be in the manufacturers’ best interest to reduce the cost of stoves.
